Comedians Rally for a Night of Laughs in Support of Feed the Frontlines NYC
On Thursday, June 25th, Feed the Frontlines NYC, Comedy Cloud and Aruba Ray’s Comedy hosted a virtual comedy show to support Feed the Frontlines’ efforts to nourish New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity and keep restaurant workers on the job. The event - which featured six comedians - raised over $6,400 from ticket sales and generous donations, enough to provide over 350 meals to New Yorkers on the frontlines.
Performers included Ray Ellin, Executive Producer of Comedy Central’s “This Week at the Comedy Cellar;” Ophira Eisenberg, host of NPR’s Ask Me Another; Chuck Nice, featured on the Today Show, VH1 and TruTV; Tom Cotter, runner-up on season seven of America’s Got Talent; Tony V of Seinfeld and Conan; and Brian Scott McFadden of CBS' Late Show with David Letterman, CBS' Late Late Show, and hit film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty .
“We’re so grateful to these comedians for helping us to continue to feed New Yorkers in need,” said Feed the Frontlines co-founder Isabella Di Pietro. “We could all use a laugh right now - and in this case, your laughter will translate into comforting, delicious meals too.”
The comedy fundraiser also offered comedians, who have been hard-hit by the pandemic due to cancelled performances and gatherings, the opportunity to share their talents with a widespread audience. “It feels amazing to be able to bring some joy to people’s homes during these challenging times,” said Ray Ellin, the show’s host and founder of Aruba Ray’s Comedy. “I’ve discovered it’s possible to really connect with people and move them by adjusting the comedy to the platform. I’m happy seeing people happy; it’s cathartic for all of us. And comedians have been hard-hit by the pandemic, and have lost all performances. So we’re thrilled to share our talents, particularly for such an outstanding and important cause.”
A huge thanks to Ray Ellin and our incredible team of comedians, and to Dianna Colasurdo, without whom this wonderful evening would not have been possible.
